Storytelling app for Speyer, Worms and Mainz

Bringing Jewish heritage to life - this is the goal of the SchUM sites' storytelling app. You get to know Abel and Anton in Worms at the “Holy Sand” cemetery and accompany Maayan around the Worms synagogue. In Mainz, you will meet Leon Schlesinger on his journey through 1000 years of Magenza and also meet the Mainz rabbi Dr. Sali Levi and his wife Margarethe, who was in office until 1942.

History in Speyer takes you on a fast-paced journey through many centuries. In the Judenhof, you will overhear exciting discussions between Rebecca, a modern Jewish woman, and David and Simcha, two medieval scholars.

The characters take the listeners back in time and provide many new insights into Jewish history and culture as well as interesting information about important monuments. The app focuses entirely on experience-oriented communication and the characters cultivate a lively culture of discussion. Thought-provoking debates about the role of women, the reaction of the Jewish community to the Crusades or the special building forms in the Judenhof Speyer open up different perspectives - traditional, orthodox, liberal - on Judaism. Playful and educational content is complemented by funny and touching moments. The story can be read or listened to, is also suitable for children and is available in both German and English.
