Maximilianstraße

Welcome to "Maxi", as we in Speyer affectionately call our magnificent main street. 

Here, beautifully restored baroque houses characterise the face of Speyer's most prominent street, which connects the imperial cathedral with the Altpörtel city gate tower. No two gabled houses here are alike and the dates on the houses bear witness to centuries of flourishing trade. 

The Maxi is not just a shopping street. It is the centre of our city, a lifeline and social hub at the same time. Here, we locals sit alongside you in the restaurants and cafés and enjoy the privilege of calling such a beautiful city our home.

Our Christmas and New Year's market and farmers' market (both websites German only) are also held at Maxi (the links provided will be updated with current information in due course).

From the central parking lot at the fairgrounds, it is only a five-minute walk to the Maxi. Our Speyer City Shuttle (line 561, train station <=> fairgrounds) also runs directly through the otherwise traffic-calmed street.
