Between Altpörtel and Gedächtniskirche

The Postplatz is a city centre transport hub. Various local bus routes converge here. The Festplatz is connected via route 561 and the main railway station via several other routes.

Although original Speyer pretzels are no longer sold in the listed glass pretzel house, it is part of Postplatz, as is the imposing former main post office building on the north side of the area, which is now used as a shopping arcade with restaurants and a hotel.

The Gilgenstraße leads directly to the Gedächtniskirche and St. Bernhard, the two opulent church buildings outside the city centre, which help shape the cityscape with their striking towers. Postplatz and Gilgenstraße have always been an important part of Speyer's retail landscape and are home to many local shops.

Every local has a favourite shop here that makes it hard to imagine living without.
