Helpful apps and tools for planning your visit and stay

We don't want you to have to hold your smartphone in your hand all the time in Speyer to find your way around the city. That's why the tourist information office still provides traditional city maps on paper. Our tour guides are flesh and blood and know a lot off the top of their heads that you would otherwise have to search for online.

ShUM-App

Bringing Jewish heritage to life – that is the goal of the SchUM Sites storytelling app. You will meet Abel and Anton in Worms at the “Heiliger Sand” cemetery and accompany Maayan around the Worms synagogue. In Mainz, you will meet Leon Schlesinger on his journey through 1000 years of Magenza and also encounter Dr. Sali Levi, the rabbi of Mainz until 1942, and his wife Margarethe.

The history of Speyer takes you on a fast-paced journey through many centuries. In the Judenhof, you will overhear exciting discussions between Rebecca, a modern Jewish woman, and David and Simcha, two medieval scholars.

The app focuses entirely on experience-oriented communication, and the characters engage in lively discussions. Thought-provoking debates about the role of women, the Jewish community's reaction to the Crusades, and the unique architectural features of the Judenhof in Speyer open up different perspectives—traditional, orthodox, liberal—on Judaism.
Playful and educational content is complemented by humorous and touching moments. The story can be read or listened to, is also suitable for children, and is available in both German and English.
